Do You Want To Be A Book Reviewer?

Book ReviewersI am getting ready to publish new editions of books that already appear on Amazon, and some new titles in the next few months. I am preparing a list of qualified book reviewers to send copies of new titles before they are published. I’m hoping to have a bunch of reviews at the time of publication that will help me market the books. There will be no cost to participate, just a willingness to read the books and write a short (or long), honest review when you are finished. I need your physical address if you want to receive a physical product.

The Power of Honest Book Reviews – A Terrible Review Made Me REWRITE A Book!

Real Estate Referral Manifestor - Discover Secrets About Referrals Lead Generation Companies Don't Want You To KnowI just accepted two speaking engagements about book publishing. I have four real estate books on Amazon right now and I expect to publish several more this year.

Hmmm …. As accomplished as I feel, I like to be open and honest.

One of my books, Real Estate Referral Manifesto, received a less-than-stellar review from an honest reader and it made me wince. A part of me bought into some new book hype that readers do not have high expectations when they are paying no more than a couple of dollars for a book on Amazon. That was a mistake!

I read this review and took it to heart!

“Even at 65 pages, my expectations were higher than what this book(let) delivered. Chapters 4 and 5 were devoted to the author and a sociologist/marketing professor – something that should have been in the prologue or authors’ introduction pages. Or even at the end of the book. But not two chapters!

“All of the chapters were very small, and the graphics used in the product are mostly out-of-focus, or so small as to be unusable. I couldn’t tell if it was the Vook product that made them that way, or that the originals being too small/out-of-focus/poor quality.

“It’s important for authors to let us know of additional products or websites that are available. However, I don’t want to read about self-promotion in the actual meat of the book(let). That too should be prior to the chapters, or at the back of the book(let).”

Here’s what I did in response to the review:

  • I re-ordered the content and put the promotional material and information about my joint venture partner in an Appendix at the end of the book.
  • I consolidated chapters with congruent, relevant content.
  • I added links to dozens of videos and additional downloadable resources.
  • I added new images and checked them before I published them.
  • I uploaded the new file to Amazon so that people who already purchased the book can download the latest edition for free.
  • I wrote a note to the author of this review and I thanked him for his scathing review!
  • I reduced the price to 99 cents for a few days as a New Year gift!

It’s a better book now.

I’m going to take a look at everything else I published on Amazon and do some more updating before I add anything new!

If you read this book, I hope you will add your own review! (… and I hope you like it and find the tools useful to build your real estate referral business.) If you already bought the book, download the new version for free at Amazon.

Best Selling Author Paul Colligan Gave My Amazon Book Review a Thumbs Up

Paul Colligan is the author of Cross Channel Social Media Marketing. I reviewed the book recently on Amazon. He likes my review and he shared an excerpt at a Cross Channel MOJO conference in San Diego. You can read the whole review here ==> Cross Channel Social Media Marketing Review.

BOOK REVIEW: ‘Instant Customer Revolution: Real Stories About How to Capture, Convert, and Close More Sales with Smart Online & Mobile Marketing’

If God set up shop on the Internet, She would recruit Mike Koenigs as her first Apostle. God is smart about things like that. Apostles write books and parables. They like to get viral with their messages. Mike is very viral.

Mike published a new Cross Channel Gospel this week: “Instant Customer Revolution: Real Stories About How to Capture, Convert, and Close More Sales with Smart Online & Mobile Marketing.”

I downloaded the book for free. It’s free for a few days and then Mike will publish the book on Amazon. Next week the book will cost $24.95. It will still be a good deal, but I am happy to be “in the know” and I am happy to get viral about things that make the world a better place. I will edit this review and publish it on Amazon next week.

The book is a 300-page cross channel tome, with links to interviews, case studies, and resources you can use to find more success in your business. You will find inspiration and ideas you can apply in any business, whether you are selling your own products and services or someone else’s. The book is a good read for business owners, marketing execs, and consultants in any company. It’s that good. Really!

I read the book twice this week, cover to cover. And I watched the interviews.

DISCLOSURE: I read the book on my new iPad. Mike Koenigs gave me the iPad. I submitted my elevator speech to a contest at a contest he sponsored at Cross Channel MOJO. A distinguished cross channel panel of judges – Mike, cross channel apostle Paul Colligan, and branding diva Liz Goodgold – gave me three thumbs up and sent the iPad. (My elevator speech: “I help real estate bloggers find their voice, tell their story, and attract their ideal client.”)

Mike opens the book with a poem, “To the Entrepreneur.”

“… they invent, inspire, and make the world a better place.”

The poem is evidence of the passion Mike spends in the pursuit of a lofty mission, creating and galvanizing one million entrepreneurs.

He submits persuasive evidence about what works in marketing:

  • 96% of text messages are opened … whether from a friend or business … they’re never ignored.
  • 78% of customers use two or more channels before buying.
  • 30% use three or more.
  • About 88% of voicemail messages get listened to
  • … and LOTS and LOTS more.

He delivers the goods in a compelling series of interviews with heroes and all-stars in his marketing programs. They talk in depth about their strategies and marketing programs:

  • Chris Bole is a real estate investor and entrepreneur in Phoenix who sold several houses FAST in a down market, built a large base of new buyers, and started a marketing company that helps real estate agents market their listings. Dig this, Chris is a FSBO who teaches real estate agents how to market houses!
  • Kristen Moore is a widowed Mom with four kids. She put her faith in Mike’s word and his system, went into action, and built a list of 521 people in tow days, and generated over $90,000 selling a summer gymnastics course.
  • Diego Rodriguez is a father of five and VERY nice guy! His journey with Mike took him from no job to a six-figure income and seven employees in eight months.
  • … there are seven more stories like this, seven more chances to be inspired, seven more cases to model.

Do yourself a favor. Download the book today (while it’s still free), read it, and remember I’m the one who told you about it! ;-) – Blogmother Fran
